Glenn Hill, CISSP, IAM, CPP
Glenn C. Hill is the Manager of Information Security at Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts, where he manages policy and practice to preserve, protect and defend the information assets of the institution. His practice includes stewardship of ethical awareness and developmental opportunities across all constituencies. His experience includes twenty-four years in Information Technology and security for business and industry, covering manufacturing, financial services, government, defense, and higher education sectors. Hill is a guest lecturer at the Colleges of Engineering, Law, Health Sciences, Business, Psychology, and Criminal Justice at Northeastern University, and is an advisor to faculty on curriculum development for programs in Information Assurance. He is a retired board member of the Northeastern University Ethics Education Center (NUCASE), and serves on the President's Crisis Management Team. Before coming to Northeastern, Hill was the Assistant Director of Enterprise Technology Planning and Services at Babson College in Wellesley, Massachusetts, where he was responsible for a variety of information services functions, including network, application support, telecommunications services and Y2K, as well as development of network, e-mail, acceptable use, and IT crisis management and policies. While at Babson, he developed a specialty practice in counseling students involved with inappropriate use of technology, and along with the Office of Student Affairs, developed a team-based ethical awareness approach to helping students understand the role of ethical inquiry and reflection in the use of technology. Mr. Hill holds an AAS degree from the Rochester Institute of Technology, and is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP). He holds an Infosec Assessment Methodology (IAM) Certification from the National Security Agency, and a Certified Protection Professional (CPP) designation from the American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS). His comments on Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery, music sharing and copyright infringement, have been published by the Boston Business Journal, Metro West Daily News, and broadcast by New England Cable News. Hill was a nominee for the 2004 Information Security Executive of the Year National Award, and 2005 New England Regional Award, sponsored by the Computer Security Institute and Executive Alliance. Recent speaking engagements include the 2004 Internet2 Security Professionals Conference in Washington, DC, and the 2004 Cornell Institute for Computer Policy and Law (ICPL), in Ithaca, New York. Hill is active in his community, and serves as a consultant to the School Committee of the Town of Norfolk, Massachusetts on school safety, security, and violence prevention measures. He is the principal of Security Awareness Training Services; a Massachusetts-based consulting practice delivering focused security awareness training to business, industry and individuals. |
