Melissa McDaniels
For 12 years, Melissa McDaniels has taught ethical awareness and decision-making strategies to students and faculty at Boston College, Boston University, Northeastern University, and Michigan State University. She has infused an ethical decision-making perspective in her classroom teaching (undergraduate and graduate), her executive education programs, faculty development workshops, experiential learning reflection seminars and one-to-one career advising and coaching. She is co-author of "AIR: A Teaching Tool for Cultivating Reflective Ethical Inquiry" (published in College Teaching in 2005), and has presented papers and workshops on this topic at national conferences on teaching and learning. As a board member of Northeastern University's Center for Ethics Education (NUCASE), Melissa co-created a course at Northeastern University called "Ethical Awareness on Co-op", during which students reflected upon ethical issues arising in experiential learning placements. As Assistant Director for Leadership for the Common Good at Boston College, Melissa worked directly with change leaders from local financial and health care organizations who were trying to implement strategic change guided by principles of social responsibility and ethical action. Currently, Melissa is a doctoral student in Higher, Adult and Lifelong Education at Michigan State University. She serves on the Provost's Faculty & Organizational Development Committee Advisory Board. Her current research is focused on graduate education and faculty careers, with a particular focus on the teaching and learning processes in doctoral education. Melissa has a M.A. in Higher Education from the Graduate School of Education at Boston College, and a B.A. from the University of Michigan. |
